Why we built it

We knew how we wanted our cases planned. The problem was getting those decisions into the initial setup every time — without rebuilding them case by case, or repeatedly sending cases back to the CAD designer.

Digital was supposed to give us more time. Less chair time turned into more computer time at night.

But there was another reason.

What if we miss something one day?

We’re planning between patients. We’re tired. We’re finishing a ClinCheck® at night. We don’t want the success of that case to depend on whether we remembered every rule we’ve learned.

We’ve read the literature. Humans haven’t changed how they grow, and the limits of biology haven’t moved. So why do our plans still show movements that aren’t biologically possible?

Because a generic starting point doesn’t know those limits. It simulates what was asked for.

We wanted those limits built into the rules before the case ever reached us.

So we built them. Hundreds of hours of coding, testing, and refinement went into turning those decisions into a system. It gives the planning time back without changing how the case is planned.

The questions doctors ask us

I already set my Global Clinical Preferences. Isn’t that enough?

Global Clinical Preferences give one answer for every patient. The SMARTA Template uses condition-specific rules. A deep-bite patient shouldn’t start the same way as an open-bite patient. The case comparisons let you see the difference on the same patient.

Will my first case come back perfect?

No, and we would rather tell you that now. Your cases still require your clinical judgment, and you will still make decisions in 3D Controls. The difference is the starting point: specific rather than generic, with far more of the planning already built in.

Is it a subscription?

No. One payment gives you lifetime access to the version you purchase. It remains active in your account. Founding doctors also receive every update and release during their first two years. We expect major releases as Align introduces new products and capabilities.

Which cases is it built for?

Children, teens, and adults — comprehensive treatment plus Phase I early treatment. The rules change according to the condition being treated rather than applying one set of preferences to every patient.

How is this different from Costa Rica?

The SMARTA Template is our system, ready to adopt. Costa Rica is where you learn to adapt it. At the immersion, doctors work through the decisions behind the system and choose from SMARTA template variations designed around different clinical and practice workflows. Many doctors will do both: adopt the system, then learn how to make it their own.

What support is included?

Founding doctors have a defined channel for reporting cases that behave unexpectedly, plus access to an answer library built from real cohort cases. One-on-one coaching and treatment-planning support are available separately.

How much is it?

The founding price is announced to the waitlist before enrollment opens. One payment. No subscription. Doctors who join after the founding cohort pay more.

Do I have to commit by joining the waitlist?

No. Joining the waitlist means you get the first invitation when the twenty founding spots open.

Every case in our practices starts from this template. Every plan we open has already been checked against the rules and the biological limits we built into the system.
